TAC Liberty jolts Champion 24-0; LaBrae drops Brookfield 26-12

CHAMPION -- After a slow start, the Liberty High football team used a big second half to blank Champion, 24-0, Friday in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
The Leopards (4-0, 1-0) used a 16-yard field goal by John Humphrey to take a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, Donovan Fletcher blocked a punt for a touchdown and a 10-0 lead.
Robert Hightower and Dania Gilliam ran for touchdowns covering 15 and 57 yards, respectively, to round out the scoring.
Champion is 0-4, 0-1.
LaBrae 26, Brookfield 12
LEAVITTSBURG -- Junior Danny Hartman accumulated 305 total yards and scored all four touchdowns for the Vikings (3-1, 1-0).
Hartman caught nine passes for 165 yards and touchdowns of 35 and 20 yards.
Hartman ran 12 times for 140 yards and touchdowns covering 20 and 70 yards.
LaBrae quarterback Todd Rowan hit on 16 of 23 passes for 224 yards, including the two scoring heaves to Hartman.
After LaBrae jumped out to a 19-0 lead in the first quarter, the Warriors (2-2, 0-1) closed to 19-12 at the break.
For Brookfield, Dan Davies scored on a quarterback sneak and he hit Pete Hunkus with a 45-yard touchdown.
Hubbard 26, Newton Falls 0
HUBBARD -- Tony Giancola rushed for 135 yards on 20 carries, which included touchdown runs of 5 and 21 yards for the unbeaten Eagles (3-0).
The Eagles gained 251 yards in 47 attempts and they were 3 of 8 for 22 passing.
Newton Falls (0-4) was limited to 66 rushing yards and it connected on 2 of 8 passes for 33 yards.
