PREP SOCCER Mooney, Ursuline capture SVC victories



Colleen Moran scored two goals for Poland in a win over West Branch.
WARREN -- Cardinal Mooney High extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a 5-0 victory over Warren Kennedy in a Steel Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday.
The game was stopped with 16 minutes remaining because of lightning.
The Cardinals (5-0-1, 2-0 SVC) led 1-0 at halftime on an own goal. Mimi Vitello scored two goals in the second half, and Kelli Willis and Kelli Burke had one each. Marisa Simon had an assist.
Ursuline 8, Warren Harding 0
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dana Hinebaugh scored two goals for the Irish, while Kaila Buckley, Bridget Celio, Hannah Snyder, Mariah Snyder, Geralyn Tondo-Steele and Katelyn Tondo-Steele added one apiece.
Geralyn Tondo-Steele and Katelyn Tondo-Steele each had two assists. Kim Doverspike, Liz Emanuel, and Hannah Snyder had one apiece. Jolanta Carkido had nine saves for the Irish.
Poland 4, West Branch 1
BELOIT -- Colleen Moran scored two goals for Poland (4-1-1), while Samantha Stanich and Sarah Anderson added one apiece. Stanich and Moreen Malone both had assists.
McKenzie Wallace scored for the Warriors (3-4), on an assist by Paige Stryffler in the game that was called at halftime because of lightning. Carlie Poffenberger had five saves for West Branch.
Boys
COLUMBIANA -- Jeff Harold scored two goals to pace Columbiana (3-5-1) to a 5-0 win over South Range.
Julie Casacchia added a goal and had an assist, and David Jackson and Kyle Martin had a goal apiece. Brian Glick had 28 defensive stops.
Beaver Local 6, Crestview 1
NEW WATERFORD -- Shawn Dunn scored four goals for the Beavers (7-1). Andy Lubich and Jarrod Satmore each added one.
Cory Leeson paced the Rebels (3-3-2) with one goal.
West Branch 5, United 1
HANOVERTON -- Tommy Geiger scored two goals for the Warriors, while Matt McCain, John Wallace and Nathan Diehl added a goal apiece. Matt McCain and Andrew McCain each had an assist.
Chris Berkheimer scored United's goal on an assist from Brock Volio.
United's Spencer Widlicka had 19 saves.
Boardman 5, Louisville 3
LOUISVILLE -- Boardman's Jeremy Winters scored twice and had one assist. Jordan Winters scored on a penalty kick. Bob Davis and Nick Antonucci each added one goal, and Nick Ludban had an assist.
Boardman is 4-2-2.
