Q. I met this guy over AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). I think I like him. Is it OK to meet him?
A. We are pleased that you have asked this question. You have good reason to worry about meeting someone that you met on the Internet.
People who you meet online are not necessarily who they say they are. Unfortunately there are many predators (men who like to abuse young adults) who pose as teenagers on line.
Do not meet him at this time. We polled a number of teenagers who were in the office and they all agree: No, no, do not go!!!
Discuss this with your parents. Let them talk to him online. If they then approve of him and OK a meeting, you then may go with your parents to meet him in a very public place that is safe. You should never meet someone you met online by yourself. That is way too dangerous.
If this guy you met online refuses to chat with or meet your parents, you will know that you avoided major trouble.
Video game review
"Ghosthunter" (Namco for PlayStation 2, $49.99, rated T) is a repeat of many themes you've seen before, a sort of "Ghostbusters" meets "Pok & eacute;mon" meets "Fatal Frame" sort of game -- only without the deep scares, the exhaustive things to collect or the belly laughs.
Still, "Ghosthunter" manages to be better than it has any right to be. It's actually quite enjoyable.
You play Lazarus Jones, a new Detroit cop who investigates a haunted, abandoned high school with his female partner.
They split up shortly before Lazarus discovers a big electronic contraption in the basement. He turns it on, lets nasty spirits loose on the world, and has to watch his partner being kidnapped by one of them.
After that, it's up to you as Lazarus to recapture all the spirits -- hence the "Pok & eacute;mon" likeness -- and rescue your partner. The tools you use are ripped straight from the movie "Ghostbusters," including a plasma-style lasso and a big containment box to grab the ghouls.
Alas, the puzzles in this game seem like an afterthought.
That's all right, though, because they mostly serve to keep you interested in the action, which is a hoot.
The graphics in the game are lovely, especially the people and ghosts, and the sound effects are nearly perfect at setting the mood and keeping you tense.
