CENTRAL OHIO Girl, 14, missing 9 years, to live with mom for now

A hearing will determine which parent will get custody of the child.
NEWARK, Ohio (AP) -- A 14-year-old girl found in central Ohio nine years after disappearing from California will live with her mother until there is a final decision on which parent gets custody, a judge has ruled.
Licking County Juvenile Court Judge Robert Hoover ruled late Thursday that Vanesa Brancheau will remain in legal custody of children's services, but can live with her mother, Sheri Lyn Taylor, court administrator David Edelblute said.
Hoover will decide in December whether Taylor or Vanesa's father, David Brancheau of Auburn Hills, Mich., will get final custody. A court date has not been set.
Can't leave
As part of Hoover's ruling, Vanesa will not be permitted to leave Licking County with Taylor, her family or anyone acting on Taylor's behalf, Edelblute said.
Brancheau was awarded liberal visitation rights, including unsupervised visits and contact by phone, e-mail and mail.
Hoover also ordered psychological evaluations for both Vanessa and Brancheau, Edelblute said.
Vanesa, who was 5 when she was reported missing from California, had been living under the name Ariel Rose Wiggins with her mother in Johnstown, about 20 miles northeast of Columbus. Authorities said they also lived in Florida and Missouri under different names.
Reported missing
Vanesa and her mother were reported missing in 1995 from the Los Angeles community of Woodland Hills.
The girl was found July 9, when Licking County prosecutors said a woman recognized her picture from the Web site of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
