CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Connecticut clinched a playoff spot for the second straight year behind Nykesha Sales' 28 points. Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Sun (17-15), who moved one game ahead of Charlotte (16-16). Tammy Sutton-Brown tied a career-high with 22 points, and Allison Feaster and Tynesha Lewis added 15 apiece for the Sting, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Connecticut held a 46-24 advantage in the paint and outrebounded the Sting, 31-18.
Mystics 84, Silver Stars 73
SAN ANTONIO -- Alana Beard scored 22 points to lead Washington to its fourth straight win. Nakia Sanford added 17 points and Coco Miller scored 15 second-half points for the Mystics, who moved into a second-place tie with Charlotte in the Eastern Conference. Adrienne Goodson and LaToya Thomas both had 20 for the Silver Stars (8-25), who have lost 11 of 13. They led by as many as 13 in the first half.
Storm 73, Mercury 58
SEATTLE -- Lauren Jackson scored 25 points, and Seattle Storm came from far back again to wrap up second place in the Western Conference. The victory gave home-court advantage to Seattle in the first round of the playoffs. It was the third straight victory in which Seattle overcame a double-figures deficit to win. Led by Jackson, last season's league MVP, the Storm improved to 13-2 at KeyArena this season. Phoenix, led by rookie Diana Taurasi with 20 points, sustained its third straight loss and is a half-game ahead of Sacramento for the final Western Conference playoff spot. Phoenix has two games remaining to three for Sacramento. Down 30-27 at halftime, Seattle blew the game open with a 25-7 run that spanned nearly 10 minutes of the second half.
