Company gets tax break
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners have approved tax breaks for a new Champion Molded Plastic plant planned for Niles Commerce Park in Weathersfield.
The company, which now operates a factory in Masury, plans to invest between $2.3 million and $3.1 million in the new facility, which will employ 20 workers within two years, officials said.
The tax abatement approved by commissioners Wednesday would reduce personal property tax on the new facility by 60 percent for 10 years. The company does not plan to change operations at its facility on Standard Avenue, which employs 85, said company vice president Ray Vanderpool.
The new jobs are not union and will pay about $7 an hour, he said. The company produces plastic containers, such as garbage cans.
Enterprise-zone loan
SHARON, Pa. -- The Shenango Valley Enterprise Zone Corp. will help a Sharpsville business expand its operations. The committee voted Wednesday to lend Integrated Fabrication & amp; Machine Inc. of High Street, Sharpsville, $51,750 to help buy a computer-operated burning machine for its fabrication operation. The company produces transformer components for the power industry.
The loan is for five years at 60 percent of the prime rate or about 2.7 percent at current market rates.
The project is to create two jobs at the 20-employee company. The total project cost is $115,000.
