POLAND -- Township police are investigating several burglaries from the past week.
According to police reports, homes and businesses on Moore Road, Water Street, Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road and Stateline Road have been broken into and in some cases vandalized. The break-ins took place between Sept. 7 and Monday.
Detective Sgt. Anthony Sferra said the thefts may be related.
"We don't have anything definite tying them all together, but by the time frame and the way the places were entered, we believe they may be connected," he said.
Police have suspects in mind, Sferra said.
One home on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road was burglarized, and a wall-mounted Precious Moments doll was reported stolen. An attempted burglary at another home on Water Street was reported.
Pry marks on windows
In the attempted burglary, the resident living in the house told police she heard noises that sounded like someone brushing up against the house. The next morning a screwdriver was found in the driveway and pry marks at the base of two windows on the house.
The other three burglaries were of businesses. Essroc on Moore Road, a building still under construction on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, and the BFI Landfill on Stateline reported burglaries.
A hard hat, ladder, air conditioner, scrap metal and lumber were among the items taken. Several items were vandalized at the three locations.
