Officials require data on flood insurance

Shenango and Mahoning Township residents who had flood damage should contact their insurance carriers immediately to determine their levels of insurance coverage, said supervisors in both townships and officials from the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency.
Officials said an accurate damage assessment cannot be conducted until insurance information is available.
Shenango Township officials said most of the flood damage from Sept. 8-9 occurred in the Kerr and Mooney mobile home parks.
At least 27 homes were affected, five with major damage. Others in the township reported basement flooding as high as 4 feet, officials said.
Any Mahoning Township resident who had property damage from the recent heavy rains should contact the township office at (724) 667-8801 to make a report, township officials said.
Residents will be asked if the damage was covered by insurance. The county EMA will send the information to federal and state agencies to try to obtain funds to cover damage.
