Actress jailed for nightafter wrecking SUV
MOORPARK, Calif. -- Former "Growing Pains" actress Tracey Gold was arrested earlier this month after her sport utility vehicle flipped on a highway, injuring her husband and two of their three children, police said.
Tracey Gold Marshall, 35, was booked for investigation of felony drunken driving after the Sept. 3 crash, California Highway Patrol officer Steve Reid said Monday.
Marshall wasn't hurt, but her husband, Roby Marshall, 39, suffered neck injuries, the officer said. The couple's 7-year-old son suffered a broken collarbone and a 5-year-old son was cut, but their 4-month-old son wasn't hurt, Reid said. The Marshalls' home telephone number was unlisted and the actress couldn't be reached to comment. The SUV, with Marshall at the wheel, veered off the highway just before midnight and rolled over on its way down an embankment, Reid said.
Officers suspected the actress was under the influence of alcohol, and she was booked at the county jail. She posted $50,000 bail the next day and was released. A court date wasn't immediately available, the highway patrol said.
Gold played Carol Seaver during the seven-year run of "Growing Pains," which ended production in 1992.
2 'Brady Bunch' actorstake the 'Body Challenge'
NEW YORK-- Apparently, a couple Bradys didn't own any exercise equipment.
Former "Brady Bunch" actors Christopher Knight and Susan Olsen, who portrayed Peter and Cindy Brady respectively, as well as four other not-so-A-list celebrities signed up to shed excess pounds for Discovery Health Channel's "Body Challenge: Hollywood," a 12-week health and fitness competition. "It's not a beauty contest," Knight told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "It is a contest about health. It was very illuminating to me. I thought I knew what I needed to know."
The competitors, which included Erik Estrada ("CHiPS") and Charlene Tilton ("Dallas"), were given personal trainers and nutritionists to help in their transformation. Knight, 47, lost 50 percent of his fat mass during the competition, which was filmed last December.
"I have been in and out of shape for 20 years," said Knight, who worked behind a desk in the high-tech industry for most of his life. "I couldn't find the time. There was just no energy to work out and stay in shape."
Now that Knight, who was a fan of the previous seasons of "Body Challenge," is in better shape and free of his desktop duties, he'd like to get back to his acting roots.
"If I'm going to re-approach the entertainment industry, there's no room for chubby," Knight said. The four-episode "Body Challenge: Hollywood" premieres Sept. 14.
Ford excused from jury because ofconflict of interest
LOS ANGELES -- Harrison Ford has been excused from a jury after expressing concerns in open court about remaining objective, reports "Celebrity Justice."
The Academy Award nominee asked the judge in a Santa Monica, Calif., courtroom Monday to be removed from a case already under way because of a possible conflict of interest with the plaintiff, MGM Studios head Alex Yemenidjian. In open court, Ford said he felt conflicted about serving as a juror when he learned that Yemenidjian's company had been instrumental in green-lighting Ford's next feature film project.
"It was a big favor" he said. When asked by the judge if he could remain objective, Ford answered, "I'm only human."
After a brief discussion with all parties, the judge excused Ford. He commended the "Star Wars" star for reporting for his civic duty, adding, "You took it like a man."
