Taft reappoints 2 Valley doctors to loan repayment advisory board
COLUMBUS -- Two Mahoning Valley men were reappointed Monday by Republican Gov. Bob Taft to the Physician Loan Repayment Advisory Board.
The governor's office said Dr. Ronald Dwinnells of Poland and Dr. John Vargo of Austintown have been reappointed to the board for terms expiring June 30, 2006.
Dr. Dwinnells, chief executive officer of the Youngstown Community Health Center, has medical and undergraduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Youngstown State University, the governor's office said.
Dr. Vargo has an undergraduate degree and an MBA from St. Louis University and a medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, the governor's office said.
Dr. Vargo has a private practice and is an independent examiner for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, the governor's office said.
The Physician Loan Repayment Advisory Board develops plans to help physicians repay medical school loans, typically through the promise to practice in underserved areas.
The program also assists in identifying those underserved areas where physicians can be placed. Members are paid for expenses only.
