Still locked out at RMI, workers run radio ads

WEATHERSFIELD -- Locked-out workers at RMI Titanium are taking to the airwaves in their battle with the company.
The United Steelworkers of America is running radio ads this week that feature Leo Gerard, international president, attacking the company.
"This reckless lockout is about greed, about power-hungry bosses determined to bust a local union that cares about its members," he says. "It's about a company inflicting needless suffering on families and businesses that depend on the paychecks of these workers."
Gerard also says that executives are collecting exorbitant salaries and bonuses while demanding concessions from workers.
Richard Leone, a company spokesman, declined to comment.
The ads will run through Thursday, the union said.
About 360 members of Steelworkers Local 2155 and 2155-7 have been off the job since October 2003 in a contract dispute. Management is continuing to operate its titanium-producing mill.
