BIG SCHOOLS
(Div. I-III)
1. Warren Harding (3-0), vs. Cardinal Mooney. This Steel Valley Conference opener promises to be a good one at Mollenkopf Stadium. The Cardinals played Harding tough last season.
2. Fitch (3-0), vs. Massillon Perry. The Falcons return home after a long trip to Reynoldsburg, with their offense in high gear for the Federal League opener.
3. Cardinal Mooney (3-0), at Warren Harding. The Cardinals have allowed just three points in three games. That defense will be tested this weekend.
4. Canfield (3-0), at Chaney. The Cardinals move up two spots after knocking off Alliance, a preseason favorite in the Metro Athletic Conference.
5. Howland (3-0), at Poland. The Tigers will look to drop Poland to its fourth straight defeat.
6. Beaver Local (3-0), at East Liverpool. The Beavers steamrolled Campbell to stay unbeaten.
7. Ursuline (2-1), vs. Pittsburgh Perry Academy. Alex Allen had 302 yards rushing as the Irish defeated Poland in an anticipated meeting.
8. Hubbard (2-0), vs. Newton Falls. The Eagles hope to get out of the gate quickly in the Trumbull Athletic Conference opener.
9. West Branch (2-0-1), vs. Canal Fulton Northwest. The Warriors make their first appearance in the poll after stopping rival Salem. They'll have their hands full with Northwest.
10. Lakeview (2-1), at Girard. The Bulldogs' defense will need to play at a higher level in this game.
SMALL SCHOOLS
(Div. IV-VI)
1. Liberty (3-0), vs. Champion. The Leopards take over the top spot after Girard dethroned Warren JFK. The Indians are lurking at No. 2.
2. Girard (3-0), vs. Lakeview. Quarterback Bobby Ovesny directed a 64-62 shootout win against Warren JFK by passing for 469 yards and four touchdowns, as the Indians climbed four spots.
3. Warren JFK (2-1), at Genoa. Tony Elzy rushed for 417 yards and seven touchdowns in the Eagles' loss to Girard.
4. South Range (3-0), vs. Lowellville. The Raiders rolled past Champion behind a balanced rushing attack.
5. Mineral Ridge (3-0), at Springfield. The Inter-County League's first big game takes place in New Middletown.
6. Springfield (3-0), vs. Mineral Ridge. Fans should enjoy the talented ball carriers in this game.
7. Crestview (2-1), at Lisbon. The Rebels rushed for almost 400 yards in defeating LaBrae.
8. Columbiana (2-1), at Southern. A late surge led the Clippers past Pymatuning Valley.
9. Rayen (2-1), at Lima Senior. The Tigers make their first appearance in the poll after a respectable start to the season.
10. Lisbon (1-1), vs. Crestview. The Blue Devils' first loss came at the hands of unbeaten Wellsville.
Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline are grouped in the big school division because of their prominent schedules.
