CRAFTS SHOWS
XBristolville United Methodist Church, corner of Routes 88 and 45, Bristolville, will sponsor a fall roast beef dinner, bake sale and craft tables Sept. 25 at the church. Serving will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and takeouts will be available. Cost is $6.50 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12 and $1 for those under 6.
DANCES
XUPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation will sponsor a Halloween-themed "Boo Ball" from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Oct. 22 at The Corinthian, 47 Vine Ave., Sharon, Pa. The event will include hors d'oeuvres, entertainment and a fortune teller. Costumes are encouraged but not required. XU.S. Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association will hold a public dance Sunday at the OCCHA Hall, 3660 Shirley Road. FUND-RAISERS
XCamp Fire USA-Northern Ohio Council will hold a wine-tasting event from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22 at Creekside Golf Dome, Route 422, Girard. Viking Vineyards of Kent will be showcased. There will be a short program on wine-making and tasting. There also will be hors d'oeuvres and raffles. Tickets are $25 per couple or $15 for singles. XDelta Zeta Sorority at Youngstown State University will sponsor its annual Turtle Tug from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 on the greens at Cafaro and Lyden Residential Dormitories. The event will include a tug-of-war competition, wheelbarrow races, pie-eating contest and Halloween costume contest. Five-member teams will compete. Most of the money will be donated to Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C., to help students with speech and hearing impairments, and a portion of the funds will go to the Youngstown Hearing and Speech Association. XJessica Moorhead Foundation for Hope will hold a fall concert and family fun fest Sunday to benefit Forum Health Tod Children's Hospital's pediatric cancer program. The event will begin at 1 p.m. at Austintown Township Park, Kirk Road, Austintown, with free games and activities. Each family or group will be asked for a $5 donation. For $3, children 4-7 and 8-12 can center a fun run to win a bike. A benefit car show will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m., and dinners will go on sale at 2. The dinners will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and will feature a choice of steak, fire roasted pork tenderloin or chicken breast along with baked potato or baked sweet potato, corn on the cob, salad and beverage. Burgers, hot dogs, beverages and snacks will be available all day. A free concert will conclude the event at 4 p.m.
XMary Mother of Hope Church, corner of North and Beaver streets, New Castle, Pa., will sponsor a night at the races at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16. Cost is $5 a person and includes food and beverages. XThe annual Rally for a Cure, a four-person golf outing, is planned Saturday at Bedford Trails Golf Course, Coitsville. Registration will be at 7 a.m. and golf at 8. XThe Terry Lynch Foundation will hold its annual dinner dance and silent and live auctions Sunday at McMenamy's, Route 422, Niles. Guest speakers will be former astronaut Capt. Alan Bean; Ed Buckbee, founder of Space Camp; and Marcia Lindstrom, Space Camp grants administrator. The event will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 and the program and entertainment.
