NEW YORK -- Rookie Lindsay Whalen had 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting and the Connecticut Sun moved into a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Sun (15-15) are tied with Charlotte and Indiana for the top spot. Nykesha Sales added 19 points and six rebounds for Connecticut, which shot 53 percent. Becky Hammon scored 17 points, and Crystal Robinson added 16 points and surpassed 2,000 career points as the Liberty fell to 14-15 and out of a tie for the conference lead.
Lynx 64, Storm 61
MINNEAPOLIS -- Teresa Edwards scored 18 points and the Minnesota Lynx snapped a two-game losing streak. Helen Darling added a career-high 10 assists for the Lynx, who moved into sole possession of third place in the Western Conference, one game behind Seattle. Nicole Ohlde scored 16 points, Svetlana Abrosimova added 11 and Tamika Williams finished with 10 for Minnesota.
Silver Stars 82, Fever 65
INDIANAPOLIS -- LaToya Thomas scored all 21 of her points in the second half Friday night, helping the San Antonio Silver Stars beat the Indiana Fever. Five San Antonio players finished in double figures and the Silver Stars shot 59 percent from the field, the best shooting performance in the league this season.
