Walkers will take steps to stamp out diabetes



Food, fun and entertainment will be part of fund-raising event.
CANFIELD -- Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road, will be the venue for America's Walk for Diabetes to be held Oct. 3 by the American Diabetes Association.
More than 500 walkers are expected to participate in the event which will raise funds for national research, advocacy and prevention programs to benefit the more than 18.2 million Americans with diabetes.
Beginning at 9 a.m., walkers can check in for the walk which will begin at 10 a.m. The event is designed as a leisurely stroll through the area for a whole family.
Participants unable to walk the entire 5-mile course can walk 1-mile within the fairgrounds and will also be eligible for prizes. Scheduled as walk-related activities are the following:

UT-shirts for walkers raising $100 or more
UIncentive prizes
UEarly morning warm-up exercises
USpecial Kids Club activities
USnacks on the route
UPizza at lunch
UOlympic-themed rest stops
UGoody bags and entertainment at finish line
