Popular powder products puffed up
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
The clothes slated for the fall fashion season seem distinctly more sophisticated and polished than in recent seasons. With shapely dresses and trim skirt suits, women are likely to pull on stockings again, curl their hair and, perhaps most radical of all, powder their noses.
Enter the compact. Time magazine says fashionistas are scouring flea markets for the once considered old-fashioned vintage compacts, the kind women such as Lauren Bacall and Nancy Reagan retrieved from their purses at the table after they dined.
Meanwhile cosmetic companies are puffing up their powder products. Time says La Prairie is adding anti-aging treatment. Kanebo makes pressed powder with silk. Stila offers a dual compact with one side matte and the other shimmery.
