Mooney sweeps 3, now has 6-1 mark



Poland beat Boardman, while Southeast handed Salem its second loss.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Cardinal Mooney volleyball team improved to 6-1 with three wins in a quadrangular at Mooney High School.
Taylor Pancoe had 18 hits, 10 kills, three aces and 13 points for Mooney in a 25-13, 25-19 win over Ravenna (2-5). Sarah Pelini added seven kills, four aces and 11 points.
Danielle Daltorio had 13 hits, six kills, 34 sets and 15 assists for the Cardinals in a 25-16, 16-25, 15-5 win over Beaver Local (2-6). Michelle Pelini had 14 hits, 10 kills, two aces and 12 points and Kirstin Donoghue had three aces, 15 digs and three points.
Sarah Pelini had 13 hits, eight kills, 14 digs and nine points for Mooney in a 25-11, 25-18 win over Lowellville (1-4). Taylor Pancoe added 14 hits, eight kills, two aces and 10 points and Michelle Pelini had 15 hits, seven kills, eight digs, two aces and 10 points.

ROCKY RIVER -- The Fitch High girls lost twice, then won a match in the Magnificat Invitational Tournament to place sixth in a field of eight schools.

POLAND -- Dee Muransky led the Bulldogs (3-3) with 16 kills and three blocks. Doni Muransky had seven kills, four blocks and 10 points while Ashley Conger had five kills, nine assists and eight points.
The Spartans were paced by April Melquist with 14 kills and five blocks. Katie Sparta assisted on 37 balls.

RAVENNA -- Sarah Hamilton paced the Quakers (6-2) with 18 kills and a block. Sarah Brobeck had seven kills, five tips and four blocks. Katie Finnicum had one ace, 10 kills and a block.

GIRARD -- Lindsay Johnson had 13 points, six kills and 14 blocks.
Ashley Avnet added 18 points with 10 aces for the Tigers.
For Lisbon, Lauren Glen had eight points, four aces and 17 assists.

GIRARD -- Chelsea Morrison had 11 kills and four blocks while Elise Roscoe added 10 kills, three aces.
For the Tigers (6-2), Johnson had 19 kills, seven blocks and 12 points.

GIRARD -- Morrison led the way with eight points, 12 kills and three blocks. Erin Stevens added 23 assists, two aces and seven points. Lee McLane had 10 digs for the Indians (7-2). For Lisbon, Melissa Browne had four points, three kills and two blocks.
Windham 25-25-25, Western Reserve 15-16-20
BERLIN CENTER -- With the three-game sweep, the Bombers are now 5-1. Rachael Hernan collected 17 points, two aces and three kills for the Blue Devils (4-3).
Katie Harmon had five points and 15 assists for Western Reserve.
Crestview 25-25, LaBrae 15-23
CRESTVIEW -- Rachell Stam and Kristen Harroff each had 11 digs for the Rebels. Elyse Mongillo added 16 assists and three kills.
For the Vikings, Megan Whitmer had 28 attempts and four assists.

CRESTVIEW -- Tricia Richards had 15 kills and three digs for the Rebels (6-0). Also for Crestview Elyse Mongillo had 14 assists, 70 attempts and five points. For the Tigers (4-1), Maria Deen scored 10 points.

LORDSTOWN -- Megan Gibson had three kills and two blocks and Samantha Kistler added three kills and a block for Lordstown. Alisha Israel had five assists and Emily Rech added an ace.

LORDSTOWN -- Emily Rech and Amanda Kistler each had eight points and Kistler added seven blocks and three aces for Lordstown (6-0). Alisha Israel had six points and 17 assists. Rachel Hawkins had nine points and four kills, while Kayla Saudrel added seven points and seven assists for Sebring (3-4).

CANTON -- The Chaney girls swept three matches at the Canton Timken High Quadrangular meet.
In the win over Rayen, Shauna Rockwell scored 14 points, with five aces and Breona Rivers had 11 points and eight aces. In the win over Timken, Adrienne Peace scored 14 points, with four aces and 18 assists, while Raylana Madison had 11 points, with an ace. In the win over Wilson, Rockwell scored 10 points with six aces and Madison had seven points and three aces for the Cowboys (5-1, 4-0).
