Mainstream customers may find it wise to call a professional to hang artwork
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
Where do you hang the Monet poster? How do you best show off the Chagall? Does Aunt Lucy's portrait have to go over the fireplace? And what do you do when you realize arranging art is more than throwing a nail in the wall?
Do what you would do if your refrigerator went on the blink or your sink stopped up. Call a professional.
The Wall Street Journal says more Americans are getting help with this aspect of interior design. They are calling artists, designers or even museum curators, who come to their homes, take down the art and rehang it all.
With hourly rates of $50 to $300, many artists and designers are serving the high-end collectors. But the idea is spilling over to mainstream customers who may just want to make their posters or family photos look good. One New York service called I'll Hang for You claims to have hoisted everything from Rembrandts to animals heads.
The WSJ says the idea is connected to two recent trends: increased interest in art and a zeal for home improvement.
