50th anniversary is celebrated by the Gatchells



XBOARDMAN -- Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gatchell, 4656 Euclid Blvd., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during a family dinner party Sept. 11 at Das Dutch Haus Restaurant and an overnight stay at Das Dutch Village Inn, both in Columbiana.
Hosts for the party were the couple's daughters and their husbands, Debbie and Tom Bierdeman of North Lima and Paula and Jim Marco of Boardman. Also participating were the couple's five grandchildren.
Special guests were Peggy Reinhardt, a sister of Mrs. Gatchell and the junior bridesmaid at the couple's wedding, and Mrs. Gatchell's mother, Sally Roberts Greenwood.
The former Carole Roberts and Mr. Gatchell were married Sept. 11, 1954, at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church. They are members of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Gatchell is retired after working at the Clothes Tree. She sang in a barbershop quartet and was active in the Sweet Adelines for many years.
Mr. Gatchell served three years as a sergeant with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired after 33 years of service as a supervisor with Western and Southern Life Insurance Co.
