PREP SOCCER Poland wins MAC game over Alliance



Nikki Bevilacqua and Paige Poulis led Lakeview's girls to an impressive win.
POLAND -- The Poland High boys soccer team posted a 4-1 victory over Alliance Thursday in a Metro Athletic Conference game at the Bulldogs' stadium.
Poland opened the scoring when Dain Malaniak crossed a perfect pass to Stephen Gavolas.
The Bulldogs scored again at the 24:49 mark when P. J. Booth scored off a rebound. The Aviators answered when Jordan Miller tallied from 40 yards out to make it 2-1 at the half.
In the second half, Isaac Yurco knocked in a rebound at the 11:37 mark to make it 3-1.
Stephen Gavolas scored the final goal of the contest for Poland. The Bulldogs outshot Alliance 19-1.
Boardman 0, Green 0
GREEN -- Although both teams each had four shots on goal, neither was able to score.
The Bulldogs (4-0-1) haven't been scored on this season.
Frank Draveckey, Boardman's (2-2-2) goalie, had four saves for his first shutout of the season.
The Spartans had a chance to score with one minute remaining, but failed to convert.
Howland 3, Niles 0
HOWLAND -- The Tigers got first half goals by Ian Jones and Tim Lee, on assists by Josh Keul and Mike Maiorano.
Zack Byler scored Howland's final goal in the second half.
Zack Roscoe had two saves for the Tigers (1-2-1, 1-1 Metro Athletic Conference).
Niles goalie Joe Harvey had seven saves.
Girls
CORTLAND -- Nikki Bevilacqua scored three goals and Paige Poulis added two more, as Lakeview High defeated Liberty 10-0 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
The Bulldogs are 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the TAC.
In with one score apiece were Jen Baker, Lauren Catuogno, Britni Morello, Rachel Taddei and Jenelle Lucante.
Liberty is 0-5.

AUSTINTOWN -- Arielle Flores scored three goals and Vicki Bankhead, Anniliese Daniluk and Kara Cooper each had one.
For the Lakers, Stephanie Coe and Tracee Gruskieaicz each scored a goal.
