YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County residents who sustained property damage during heavy rains Wednesday and Thursday are being asked by county officials to report the damage by using the county's nonemergency number, 211, to call Help Hotline. Volunteers will take information to assist county officials in compiling an assessment of damage, said Walter Duzzny, director of the county emergency management agency.
CIC money withdrawn
YOUNGSTOWN -- Between May and August, roughly $7,300 was withdrawn without authorization from a Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corporation account at National City Bank, CIC officials told police. The withdrawals were a combination of bank drafts and electronic transfers. Jason Whitehead, executive director, and Reid Dulberger, executive vice president, reported the theft Thursday, saying they want to find out who is responsible and prosecute. The report was made at the request of a detective who already has a case involving the CIC.
Hearing on razing houses
LOWELLVILLE -- A hearing regarding the proposed demolition of two condemned houses on West Wood Street will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Village Hall. Donald Sudon, owner of the houses at 228 and 244 E. Wood St., is contesting the proposed demolition, according to Mayor Jim Iudiciani. A special council meeting will follow the hearing.
Dr.'s office burglarized
YOUNGSTOWN -- Drugs and office equipment were taken between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. Thursday from 3610 Market St., the office of Dr. Muhammad I. Khan, reports show.
The thief made a hole in the door to reach in and unlock the deadbolt. The drugs Ambien (80 pills), Prozac (60 pills) and Zoloft (112 pills) were taken, as was a clock, shredder, typewriter, phone and answering machine, police said.
Nosy Neighbors meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- West Side Nosy Neighbors Block Watch monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Maxwell Hall of St. Brendan Church. The guest speaker will be Det. Sgt. Pat Kelly from the Street Crimes Unit of the city police department. Councilwoman Carol Rimedio-Righetti will also address any concerns.
New members are welcome.
Language lessons
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three levels of German, plus beginning French and Italian, will be offered at four locations. Level 1 German, Italian and French will be offered Wednesdays at Hubbard High School, Thursdays at Austintown Fitch High School and Mondays at Poland Union Schools. Levels 1 and 2 German and Italian will be offered Tuesdays at Hermitage (Pa.) Middle School. Level 3 German will be at Austintown only. These classes are for pupils from 12 years old through adults. Classes begin Sept. 27.

Arrested in assault
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tommy Robinson, 30, of Pembrook Road, Austintown, was arrested around 2:30 this morning on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damaging after a confrontation with a bouncer at The Mixx, a bar on West Hylda Avenue, police said.
Robinson, who acted disorderly in the bar and was asked to leave, punched and kicked the bouncer before being escorted out, reports show.
Robinson came back and tried to re-enter, yelling that he would kill the bouncer and kicking out a window at the bar, police said.
Teen arrested at home
AUSTINTOWN -- Police said they had to hit a teen on the forearm with a flashlight several times Thursday night so that he would drop a razor blade he was threatening to use on himself.
Colby Durst, 17, of South Raccoon Road was arrested on charges of domestic violence and resisting arrest.
Police received a call from Durst's mother at 8 p.m. saying that the teenager had threatened her with a knife, pushed her to the ground and choked her with his shirt during an argument over a cell phone at their apartment. The woman said the boy ran when she freed herself from the shirt.
Police said they later found Durst at Arthur Treacher's on Mahoning Avenue.
When officers approached, the boy ran, reports state.
He was found in a back yard on South Yorkshire Boulevard holding a razor blade in his hand and threatening to cut his wrist. An officer struck Durst on the forearm when he refused to drop the blade.
Reports state that Patrolman Phillip Merlo injured his knee during the chase.
