Summary of recent crime activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard.
HUBBARD
Theft: A Hermitage, Pa., woman reported someone took her automated-teller-machine card and fraudulently used it at a Speedway gas station on West Liberty Street.
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 30 block of Hager Street called police after noticing an American flag on fire on the porch of an apartment across the street from her. The building was not damaged.
Sept. 4
Theft: A man in the 200 block of East Liberty Street reported a 20-inch bicycle stolen from his front yard.
Theft: A man in the 400 block of Rebecca Avenue reported that, when his son was at a home near Cyrus Avenue and School Street, the son's 20-inch bicycle had been taken.
Theft: An employee at a Shell True North gas station, 204 W. Liberty St., alleged two Hubbard men stole a 12-pack of beer.
Sept. 6
Theft: Police were called after some shoplifters fled Dollar General, 886 W. Liberty St. It was undetermined what had been stolen.
Theft: Two men discovered various items stolen from their residence in the 800 block of Elmwood Drive.
Assault: A woman in the 20 block of Orchard Avenue alleged a boy, 12, assaulted her at her home.
Sept. 7
Theft: A man fled Dairy Mart, 211 W. Liberty St., with several cartons of cigarettes without paying.
LIBERTY
Aug. 30
Assault: A man in the 600 block of Beverly Hills Drive alleged a girl, 8, slapped his daughter, also 8, in the face while arguing on Fifth Avenue. The victim had a bruise near her right eye.
Aug. 31
Identity theft: A Beloit man told police someone fraudulently used his identity and signature to obtain money from and deplete his aunt's account at Bank One, 3999 Belmont Ave., after the aunt had died.
Sept. 1
Assault: A Leetonia woman told police that a Youngstown woman, 23, was intoxicated and that, when the victim tried to leave the residence in the 200 block of Colonial Drive, the suspect pulled her by the hair, placed her in a headlock, punched her several times in the face, threw her to the floor and kicked her in the stomach and legs. The victim also alleged the woman pushed her down a flight of stairs, and she had a bruised right eye, bruises on her left thigh and scratches.
Theft: An Austintown man noticed his vehicle's rear license plate had been taken while the car was parked in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue.
Stolen property: After responding to a report of someone driving a golf cart in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue, Girard police reported the cart had been stolen from the Mahoning Country Club Inc., 710 E. Liberty St.
Criminal damaging: A Youngstown man left Choices Nightclub, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, and found someone had used a key to damage his vehicle's finish. Damage to the car's hood was estimated at $600.
Breaking and entering: Police responded to an alarm at Ianazone's Pizza, 4036 Belmont Ave., and found a crowbar that may have been used to pry open a rear door. Officers also found two other doors had been opened, but nothing was reported missing.
Sept. 2
Drugs: After responding to a report of a person passed out at an apartment in the 1700 block of Naylor Lloyd Road, police arrested a 21-year-old McDonald man. He was cited on charges of criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers say they found a suspected crack pipe on the floor next to him.
Breaking and entering: Someone forced open a rear door at Raks Nearly New, 4038 Belmont Ave., and stole 15 wristwatches, several bracelets and loose change. The loss came to about $410.
Sept. 3
Criminal damaging: An employee at Youngstown Country Club, 1402 Country Club Drive, reported someone tried to steal a 2000 GMC Z-500 company-owned pickup truck and damaged its steering column and broke a rear window.
Assault: An employee at a BP gas station, 2703 Belmont Ave., told police a man in his mid-20s bent one of her fingers backward after she refused to sell him cigarettes when he could not prove he was old enough to buy them.
Arrest: After responding to a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of Colonial Drive, police arrested a 36-year-old man at his home on a warrant charging him with assault.
Arrest: After responding to a report of a reckless driver near the Liberty Plaza, 3551 Belmont Ave., officers arrested a Youngstown man, 46. He was charged with failure to appear in court, driving under suspension and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
Theft: A woman in the 10 block of Walker Circle reported a $500 storm door stolen.
Criminal damaging: A man discovered his vehicle's rear window was broken while at a home in the 600 block of Aurora Drive. Damage came to about $500.
Theft: A woman noticed the rear license plate had been removed from her father's car at their residence in the 5100 block of Sampson Drive.
Theft: An employee at Classic Optical Labs Inc., 3710 Belmont Ave., alleged a co-worker, 44, admitted to her that she had taken money from the business over a two-year period. Police said the suspect admitted to them she had issued checks to herself totaling nearly $40,000 during that time.
Recovered property: Police recovered a 2001 Chrysler Voyager on Youngstown's East Side after a couple reported it stolen from their driveway in the 100 block of Mill Run Drive.
Criminal damaging: Police arrested a 20-year-old Youngstown man on a criminal-damaging charge after officers say that, while in the back seat of their cruiser, he tore off a door handle. The Ohio State Highway Patrol had stopped the man near state Routes 193 and 304.
Criminal damaging: A woman discovered someone threw rocks, shattering two sliding-glass door windows and causing $1,400 in damage, at her home in the 4500 block of Park Drive.
Sept. 4
Arrest: Police arrested a 29-year-old Warren man at the Mahoning County Jail on two misdemeanor warrants from Liberty charging him with one count each of aggravated menacing and drug abuse.
GIRARD
Sept. 5
Assault: A woman in the 200 block of Plymouth Avenue said a boy, 15, hit her son, 8, as the victim played with some neighborhood children near his driveway. The boy had a bruise on his back.
Aggravated menacing: A woman in the 50 block of East Wilson Avenue reported a boy, 15, threatened to shoot her 14-year-old son and cut his throat while the son was near a Dairy Queen, 201 S. State St.
Sept. 6
Attempted burglary: A woman reported seeing a man sliding a bedroom window open and pushing a window blind aside as he tried to break into her residence in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue. After chasing the suspect, two people told police he had escaped on a mountain bike.
