Ford issues recalls
DEARBORN, Mich. -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling 40,031 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans because cracks could form in the wheel hubs, the company said.
Minivans from the 2004 model year are involved in the recall. The Freestar and the Monterey were new vehicles in Ford's lineup this year.
The company is recalling 1,700 F-150 pickups from the 2004 model year because the fuel tank could leak if it gets too hot.
Banker awaits decision
NEW YORK -- Facing prison in late October, former star investment banker Frank Quattrone is hoping a federal appeals court will overturn his obstruction-of-justice conviction.
Quattrone, convicted in May of hindering a federal stock investigation, was sentenced Wednesday to 11/2 years in prison -- a far harsher term than federal probation officials had recommended. U.S. District Judge Richard Owen ordered Quattrone to begin serving his time in 50 days.
