Scripps executive to retire at year's end



CINCINNATI (AP) -- Stephen W. Sullivan, a former president of Harte-Hanks Newspapers, will retire Dec. 31 as vice president of newspaper operations for E.W. Scripps Co.
Sullivan, 58, joined Scripps in 1997 when it acquired Harte-Hanks. At the time he also was president and publisher of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Between 1997 and 2000, Sullivan remained the newspaper's top executive. He was appointed a vice president in Scripps' newspaper division with responsibility for the former Harte-Hanks newspapers and Scripps newspapers in California and Washington.
Sullivan began his newspaper career when he was hired out of college to sell advertising for the Caller-Times.
Scripps' operations include 21 daily newspapers, 15 broadcast television stations, four cable and satellite TV programming networks and Scripps Howard News Service and United Media.
