Best Bets on TV Tonight



"That '70s Show" (8 p.m., Fox) is still going strong. The sitcom kicks off a brand-new season with an episode that has Eric (Topher Grace) plotting to sell Donna's (Laura Prepon) engagement ring to fund a year of slacking off. Also featured are guest-star appearances by Brooke Shields and Tanya Roberts.
Though he was relegated to the summer this year, Drew Carey had an unusually long run on ABC -- nine seasons. Tonight's two episodes are the last of the series, "The Drew Carey Show" (9 p.m., ABC), that debuted on Sept. 13, 1995. Carey co-wrote the finale, in which Kellie (Cynthia Watros) finally agrees to marry Drew. But before the "I do's," she goes into labor, prompting a hurried hospital wedding. Marion Ross reprises her role as Drew's mother. Susan Sullivan, Michael Gross and Adrienne Barbeau also guest star.
Along with the other Beatles, John Lennon enjoyed a wide variety of popular music. This new "Great Performances" episode, "John Lennon's Jukebox" (10 p.m., PBS Channels 45 & amp; 49) looks at Lennon through "the secrets of his private record collection." The artists include Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Fontella Bass and the Lovin' Spoonful.
"Peter Jennings Reporting" Up In Smoke" (10 p.m., ABC) looks at tobacco's continued presence as a U.S. health hazard. A decade ago, Jennings reports, the government had the opportunity to change the tobacco industry. The focus of this news special: What happened to the incentive for overhaul-that-wasn't.
