Salem tops Jefferson in volleyball

JEFFERSON -- Sarah Hamilton had an ace, seven kills and a block to spark the Salem High volleyball team past Jefferson Area 25-20, 25-16 Saturday.
Sarah Brobeck had an ace, two kills, two tips and a block. Jessica Potts had two aces and 11 assists.
It was the first loss for Jefferson Area in four starts.
Salem 28-25, Canton GlenOak 26-17
JEFFERSON -- Hamilton led the Quakers (5-1) with five kills, three tips and two blocks. Brobeck had an ace and eight kills. Katie Finnicum had four kills and three tips.
It was the first loss for GlenOak in five outings.
West Branch 18-25-17, Southeast 25-12-17
BELOIT -- Ashley Davis had two points, a kill and eight passes for the Warriors. Also for the winners, Dena New scored four points and tacked on two kills, two blocks and 22 assists.
Walsh Jesuit 25-25, West Branch 17-19
BELOIT -- Davis had two points and five passes for the Warriors (2-2). New scored nine points and tacked on 15 assists.
