Door-to-door salesmancarried toilet to sell
YOUNGSTOWN -- Samuel Haskins, 40, of West Delason Avenue, faces various charges after city police discovered him going door to door early Sunday trying to sell a toilet that may have been stolen. Police said Haskins was arrested about 2 a.m. and charged with breaking and entering and drug paraphernalia. He also was charged on a warrant for failure to appear on a previous charge of having an open container of alcohol.
Police received a call to the 500 block of West Delason reporting a man was pounding on a door trying to sell something. Police later found Haskins walking toward the door of another home in the 400 block of Cohasset Drive. According to reports, Haskins told police he was going door to door trying to sell the toilet to get money for beer, and that he had taken the toilet from a vacant Cohasset Drive house. Police said the toilet Haskins possessed still had stickers on it and water in it. Police said they discovered a crack pipe while searching Haskins. The charge of breaking and entering was made because he admitted breaking into the vacant house, police said.

Former officer sues
ERIE, Pa. (AP) -- A former police officer has filed suit alleging that ranking officers called her pregnancy a "problem" and also suggested that she stop wearing skirts and heels while off duty. Billie Jo "B.J." Pierce alleges that a Millcreek Township police lieutenant made derogatory remarks about her pregnancy and that the police chief told her she would not be considered for other assignments until she changed the way she dressed off-duty.
Millcreek Township officials called Pierce's allegations groundless. The township's lawyer, Richard Perhacs, described her as a "difficult employee."
