Salernos mark golden jubilee with family

XNILES -- Mr. and Mrs. Sam Salerno of Niles were honored July 28 at a family gathering at the Niles Senior Center in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Lori and Mark Joseph of Niles; Dr. Jim and Stephanie Salerno of Virginia Beach, Va.; Joe and Kathy Salerno of Johnson, Vt.; Betsy Salerno of Kittery, Maine; Tom and Beth Salerno of Fort Mill, S.C.; and Michael and Cindy Salerno of Durham, N.C. The couple also have nine grandchildren.
The former Toni DiBenedetto and Mr. Salerno were married June 5, 1954, at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown. She was manager of the Niles Senior Center for 20 years and is now retired.
Mr. Salerno was self-employed in auto service and also worked for the city of Niles.
The couple belong to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
