Rams top Clippers

COLUMBIANA -- The Mineral Ridge High football team used a punishing running attack Friday to defeat Columbiana, 30-21.
Micah Hall, who rushed for 189 yards on 11 carries, got the Rams (2-0) off to a quick start as he ran 98 yards for a touchdown on the first offensive play of the contest.
The Rams' Levi Leigh gained 38 yards on 14 rushes, including scoring runs of 2 and 8 yards.
Drew Wagner sparked Columbiana (1-1) as he picked up 214 yards on 29 carries. He scored three times on runs of 1 and 8 yards and threw a 6-yard TD pass to Zac Hertel. Mineral Ridge rushed for 220 yards and passed for 20 more. The Clipper gained 313 rushing yards and 77 passing.
Lisbon 42,Allderice 12
LISBON -- Josh Grafton, a junior running back-receiver, turned in an outstanding all-purpose performance in leading the Blue Devils (1-0). Grafton rushed for 107 yards on 10 carries, including touchdown runs of 62 and 13 yards. He also returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a TD, caught two passes (one a 36-yard TD strike from Tyler Heath) and intercepted a pass. Dana Rose blocked a punt that Caleb Crowl caught and ran in for a 2-yard touchdown.
Joey Martin scored a pair of touchdown for the Dragons on runs of 23 and 4 yards and he finished with 205 yards on 26 attempts.
East Palestine, 20Claymont 13
EAST PALESTINE -- Joe Thompson recovered a fumble and ran 69 yards for the Bulldogs (1-1).
Jack Figley caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Zac Dunn and Jon Hall scored on a 24-yard run for East Palestine. Brett Young led the Bulldogs with 55 yards on six carries. Hall gained 39 yards on five carries and Dunn completed five of seven tosses for 116 yards. Matt McCullough caught one of them for a 52-yard pickup. Claymont is 0-2.
Beaver Local 28,Carrollton 8
LISBON -- Steve Mercer rushed nine times for 103 yards including a 43-yard touchdown to spark the Beavers (2-0). Dan Kinsey scored touchdowns on a 60-yard punt return and a 5-yard pass from Josh Weese. Shane Steckman scored Beaver Local's other touchdown with a fumble recovery in the end zone.
Tim Bowersock ran 14 times for 71 yards.
For Carrollton (1-1), Alex Bolmgren rushed 11 times for 70 yards.
Southeast 7, Newton Falls 6
RAVENNA -- Joe Knopick scored a 1-yard touchdown and he kicked the conversion to put the Pirates ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.
The Tigers (0-2) scored in the second quarter on a 3-yard run by Ricky Cahalin. Mike Pelyak ran eight times for 34 yards and Cahalin rushed seven times for 14 yards for the Tigers.
Knopick paced the Pirates with 13 carries for 69 yards.
