XGIRARD -- A reception was held Aug. 7 at The Embassy in honor of George Louis Basista Jr. of Brookfield, and his bride, the former Rachel Lynne Lowry of Girard, following their wedding at St. Rose Church.
Monsignor Martin Susko presided at the 2 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Mary Ann Lowry of Girard and the late Salvatore "Zeke" Lowry, and the son of Vicki Filipovich of Brookfield and George Basista Sr. of Boardman.
The couple have returned from a wedding trip to Aruba and live in Youngstown.
The bride's wore a strapless gown designed with a beaded bodice and ballgown skirt, and the crown she received as homecoming queen at Girard High School.
Amethyst gowns were worn by the honor attendant, Michele Jennings, and the bridesmaids, Krista Keeling, Karen Colapietro, Amy Canterino, Jen Buonavolonta, Emily Wilson, Gina Shinoskie and Jessica Shinoskie. Junior bridesmaid was Jennifer Buonavolonta, and flower girl was Lea Buonavolonta.
John Gillie served as best man, and groomsmen were Michael Mannion; Paul Bozin; Michael, Anthony and Nicolas Canterino; and Andy and Sam Buonavolonta. Junior groomsman was Joey Buonavolonta, and ring bearer was Chad Filipovich.
The bride, a clerk in a Youngstown law office, is pursuing a degree in education at Youngstown State University. The groom, a home inspector with Bass Home Inspection of Mineral Ridge, holds a degree in heating and cooling from ETI Technical College, Niles.
