PREP CROSS COUNTRY Sophomore Lape twins pace Boardman to third place in Dave Clegg Invitational



Both Jake and Rick Lape finished among the top 10 runners.
NORTH CANTON -- Sophomore twins Jake and Rick Lape led Boardman High School to a third-place finish at the Dave Clegg Invitational cross country meet Saturday.
North Canton Hoover won the meet with 58 points, while Wooster finished second with 62.
The Spartans racked up 64 points and Federal League rival Canton GlenOak ran fourth in the 10-team field with 105 points.
Both Lape brothers crossed the line in the top 10. Jake placed sixth in a personal-best 17 minutes, 15 seconds. Rick ran eighth in another personal best of 17:24.
Seniors Tim Weaver (17:42/14th), Jim Hlebak (17:49/17th) and Dave Haushalter (17:52/19th) rounded out the Boardman scoring.
South Range runners
NORTH CANTON -- Dan Nemergut of South Range finished in third place in 17:14 as the Raiders took fourth with 126 points in Division II at the Dave Clegg Invitational.
Nathan Blatt of Orange won the 3.1-mile run in 16:41.
In the girls open division run, Andra Sanders of South Range took first place in 22:05.
U Wanna Come Back race
MADISON -- For the second straight year, Colleen Moran of Poland took first place in 16:56 in the U Wanna Come Back Invitational at Madison High. Lauren Fithian of the Bulldogs was 10th (20:56).
Chardon's Luke Grau won the boys 5000 meters (16:56) and Poland's Jimmy Ramson (17:05) finished second.
