Drawing for blinds
Postcard applications are being accepted for a drawing for the following blinds to be awarded during the youth waterfowl season Oct. 9 and 10 at LaDue and Mogadore reservoirs:
LaDue: 10 blind sites (hunters use temporary blinds or boats at designated sites); Mogadore: 12 blinds (actual blinds are already in place for the hunters).
Winners will be mailed a letter permit for a randomly selected blind site valid for both days of the season. Up to two licensed youths (17 years old or less) may hunt under this permit. Applicants should send a normal-size postcard addressed to their choice of reservoirs (such as Mogadore Youth Waterfowl Drawing or LaDue Youth Waterfowl Drawing) and mail them to Wildlife District 3, 912 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron, Ohio, 44319. Applications must be received before the drawing date of Sept. 24. The postcard must include the name, address, and telephone number of a parent or another adult hunting partner.

Youth day trap shoot
The Knox Township Sportsmans Club will host a youth day trap shoot at noon Sept. 19 for youth 18 and under. There will be a gun safety course before the 10-bird shoot. Pymatuning expo set
The Pennsylvania Game Commission's Pymatuning Wildlife Learning Center will host the 2004 Pymatuning Ducks Unlimited Waterfowl Expo on Sept. 18-19 in and around Linesville, Crawford County.
Selection of the Pennsylvania Waterfowl Management Stamp will be at 1 p.m., Sept. 18 at Alice Schafer Elementary School, Linesville.
There will also be a PGC-sponsored wildlife and nature amateur photo contest. For details call the Learning Center at (814) 683-5545. Entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Sept. 15, except Mondays and Tuesdays when the center is closed.

CCW guide available
A new, comprehensive training manual, "Concealed Carry Firearms and Self Defense Shooting," will be released today and Sunday with a book signing at Slugmaster Sporting Goods, state Route 5 at Center of The World, west of Leavittsburg.
The book, produced by Bruce Knodel of All Outdoors, is in response to the passing of Ohio's concealed carry weapon permit law and the requirement of 12 hours training. Knodel will be at Slugmaster to sign copies of his new publication and Slugmaster will offer discounts on all hand guns as well as handgun and CCW accessory equipment. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. saturday and Sunday.
Cost of the publication is $10 on the day of signing or $13 over-the-counter with dealers or by mail. Mail copies may be ordered by sending a cashiers check or money order to All Outdoors, 1404 Warren Road, Newton Falls, Ohio, 44444-9751. Allow four to six weeks for delivery.
