MELISSA HANEKEDWIN GENER
XAUSTINTOWN -- Melissa Ann Hanek, a daughter of James Sr. and Karen Hanek, 4260 Wedgewood Drive, Youngstown, and Edwin Lopez Gener, a son of Leo and Salv & eacute; Gener, 6986 Highview Drive, Solon, were married July 31 at St. Joseph Church.
The 2 p.m. ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. James Korda, and the couple accepted congratulations during a reception held in their honor at the Italian American Veterans Centre.
Fashioned of white organza, the bride's halter-style, A-line gown featured a cathedral train and was embellished with pearls and sequins. She wore her grandmother's pearls.
Wearing yellow gowns were the honor attendants, Carrie Zitkovic and Melinda Hanek. The bridesmaids, Kelly Donnan, Charlene Gener and Jennifer Pugh, wore lavender gowns, and the flower girl, Kristen Pugh, was in pale yellow.
Steve Wang served as best man, and groomsmen were Jason Gener, Fred Gener, Tim Hanek and Bob Pugh. Junior groomsman was Christopher Martin, and the ring bearer was Logan Pugh.
The bride graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor's degree in natural science. She is pursuing a medical degree at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown.
The groom is a product engineer with Venture Lighting in Solon. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Ohio State University, Columbus, and a master's in education from John Carroll University, University Heights.
The couple live at 2457 Edgewater Drive, Poland.
