It's all fun and games -- but not for these cows
A wide variety of events greet those competing in or attending the 158th Canfield Fair, which is under way at the fairgrounds through Monday. In the photograph above, entries in the 4-year-old Jersey cow competition line up forjudging. The bovines in this competition are just a few of the hundreds of animals 4-H Club members are showing at the fair this year. The photo at right shows an example of some of the nonagricultural-type entertainment at the fair -- amusement rides. This one is the Drop Zone. Other nonagricultural-themed diversions at the fair are the traditional midway games. Below, Abby Malsch, 10, of Canfield fires an air rifle at one of the games. Abby was at the fair with her grandmother Laura Barton of Austintown. In the photograph at left, 3-year-old Logan Schwartz of Columbiana checks out a 541-pound pumpkin, one of the many on display. Logan was at the fair with his siblings and his mother, Danielle. Photos are by The Vindicator staff photographers Bruce Palmer and Scott R. Galvin.
