YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury has handed up a multicount indictment on child pornography charges against an Austintown man.
Wladyslaw Piskor, 62, of Spring Meadow Circle, was indicted this week on five counts of use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and 40 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.
Thirty-six of the counts are second-degree felonies, each of which carry a maximum prison term of eight years if Piskor, known as Walter, is convicted. Assistant Prosecutor Dawn Krueger said those counts involve pictures Piskor allegedly sent to other people over the Internet.
Remaining counts
The remaining counts are fourth- and fifth-degree felonies, which carry lesser prison terms or for which he also could be placed on probation. They involve pictures police allegedly found on Piskor's home computer, Krueger said.
She said authorities don't believe Piskor knows the children in the photos, but that he downloaded them off the Internet.
Piskor's attorney, Thomas Schubert of Warren, has said Piskor would plead innocent if indicted.
Austintown police say they found 27 pornographic images, many of them involving children, on a computer disc seized from Piskor's house during a search July 7. Investigators said they also have an e-mail sent by Piskor that includes three pornographic images involving children.
Reports state that the e-mail was sent to 36 people, including an investigator with the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Justice, who were in an America Online chat room for adults.
The investigator's responsibilities include looking for those who deal in child pornography.
Piskor's computer also was seized during the July 7 search and is being examined by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, police said.
