Canfield rolls past South 31-14

CANTON SOUTH -- Seniors Jamie McNally and Jordan Ferns put on an aerial display Friday to help the Canfield High football team to a 31-14 win over Canton South.
McNally completed nine of 15 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Ferns pulled in six passes from McNally covering 192 yards, including touchdowns of 43 and 66 yards.
Angelo Babbaro caught a 19-yard touchdown from McNally in the first quarter and the Cardinals (2-0) took a 17-0 lead at the half on the first Ferns score.
Chuck DeCola, who rushed 13 times for 91 yards, ripped off a 49-yard touchdown burst to put the Cardinals up 24-6 in the third quarter.
Kyle Banna made 10 tackles and Zach Guerreri collected eight tackles with a sack to lead the Cardinal defense.
The Wildcats are 1-1.
Salem 33, United 6
SALEM -- Grant Sevek scored three touchdowns including a 92-yard return on the opening kickoff as Salem rolled to its second straight win.
Sevek also had touchdown runs of 3 and 1 yards while Tom Jesko caught an 8-yard pass from Mark Kollch for another and Craig Hritz added a 4-yard run.
The Quakers finished with 392 total yards, 174 on the ground. Kollch was 15 of 23 for 218 yards.
United (0-2), which finished with 210 total yards, scored on a 44-yard pass from Bryan Phillips to Bubba Taylor in the third quarter.
