Boardman falls 34-7 against Ignatius



The Spartans trailed 27-0 in the opening quarter.
BOARDMAN -- Cleveland St. Ignatius broke out to a 27-0 lead in the first quarter on the way to a 34-7 victory over the Boardman High football team Friday in the Spartans' stadium.
Andrew Stankus rushed for 76 yards on seven carries, which included touchdown runs of 6, 4 and 32 yards.
The Spartans (0-2) got their only score in the second quarter as Luke George caught a 9-yard TD pass from Matt Howells.
St. Ignatius gained 232 yards on 42 rushes, with Nick Segue getting 100 of it on 19 rushing attempts. The Wildcats (2-0) were six of nine passing for 99 yards.
Nick Pacsik picked up 88 yards on 18 carries for the Spartans while K.T. Moses had 82 on 11 attempts.
Boardman hit on three of nine passes for 8 yards.
Liberty 48, Wilson 14
LIBERTY -- Liberty scored 22 points in the first quarter en route to its second straight win.
Dania Gilliam scored twice while Brian Jones threw touchdown passes to Marcellus Bowman and Brandon Cornwell to spark the Leopards.
Wilson (0-2) rushed for 230 yards with Gary Scott leading the way with 112 yards on 17 carries including a 51-yard touchdown run.
The Redmen finished with five turnovers, two pass interceptions and three lost fumbles.
