HELOISE Rubber mesh prevents mattress from sliding

Dear Heloise: At one time you had an article about what to put on a mattress that slides when you sit on the bed. It was something that you bought at a carpet place. Please let me know the name of it again. Velma, via e-mail
Velma, all you need to do is visit a rug or carpet store to buy some rubberized webbing (sometimes called rubber mesh). Just place a large piece of it between the mattress and box spring. You might need enough webbing to cover the entire surface of the box spring. Hope this helps! Heloise
Dear Heloise: When I purchase new clothing that comes with an extra button inside of a tiny, plastic reclosable bag, I remove and store the button and reuse the bag.
When packing for travel, I use the bags for my eye-makeup applicators (the little padded sticks). This keeps the mess to a minimum. I also use them for packing small items such as vitamins, aspirin, rings, necklaces and earrings. Pat Bruchert, Elk River, Minn.
Dear Heloise: I quickly learned to use masking tape and a permanent marker when labeling food for the freezer. I put the name of the food and the date on the side of the container, and I stack them with the labels in front. This way I know which dates to use first. J.P. in Texas
Dear Heloise: While preparing to paint a room and not wanting the ceiling painted, I thought of the new "sticking" plastic wrap. It stuck to the acoustical tiles easily and provided a much broader band than the tapes that are made for this. It also peeled off much more easily. The project turned out perfectly -- not a bit of paint on the ceiling. I also used it on switch plates, electrical outlets and air vents. Nancy Mohr Kennedy, Alexandria, Va.
Dear Heloise: I bought a new toothbrush. The handle was too fat to fit into our toothbrush holder. I have a short bud vase with about an inch-wide opening. It works fine to hold my toothbrush, and it looks pretty, too. James, via e-mail
