CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Brandon Jacobs ran for 106 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Southern Illinois to a 42-3 rout of Southeast Missouri Thursday night.
Arkee Whitlock ran for 109 yards and rushed for one touchdown and caught a 22-yard pass from quarterback Joel Sambursky for another. Sambursky completed 13-of-18 passes for 211 yards.
The Salukis racked up 554 yards in total offense -- 320 on the ground and 234 in the air. On defense, they were just as dominant, holding Southeast Missouri to 67 rushing yards and 183 passing yards. For Southeast Missouri, quarterback Andy Goodenough completed 21-of-35 passes for 183 yards. He threw one interception.
Southeast Missouri's only points came on a 38-yard field goal by Derek Kutz in the first quarter.
Illinois St. 44, St. Xavier 14
NORMAL, Ill. -- Demetrus Johnson ran for three touchdowns -- one of them a 70-yarder on Illinois State's first play from scrimmage.
Illinois State was never threatened, as they built a 34-0 halftime lead. Johnson had 108 of his 161 yards in the first quarter.
Redbirds' quarterback Yance Vaughan completed 13-of-20 passes for 225 yards. He threw two touchdown passes, including a 74-yarder to Laurent Robinson. Robinson also caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Vaughn and finished the game with 105 yards on four catches.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Cody Pratt rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns to lead Southwest Missouri State.
Pratt's 4-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter put Southwest Missouri (1-0) up 24-20, the Bears' first lead over Drake (0-1).
Quarterback A.J. Porter was 16-of-36 for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Drake's Connor Jostes was was 26 of 41 for 234 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
