WESTERN PA. State police arrest 17 illegal aliens in three days
MERCER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police picked up another 17 illegal aliens in Mercer County over the past three days, and three of them got a more exciting ride in a police car than should be expected.
Police said three Mexican illegals were picked up at the Grove City Factory Shops around 10 p.m. Wednesday, all of them working for a restoration company. They had been living in Raleigh, N.C.
As they were being taken to jail, the cruiser in which they were riding struck a deer on Pa. Route 62 in Jackson Township near the state police barracks.
All were wearing seat belts and no one was injured, police said.
A vehicle stop on U.S. Route 19 in Washington Township, Lawrence County, around 2 a.m. Tuesday turned up 12 illegal Mexican immigrants traveling from Arizona to somewhere in central Pennsylvania, police said.
All were turned over to federal immigration officials.
Another illegal Mexican immigrant was found along Interstate 80 in Lackawannock Township around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said he was in a disabled vehicle with two men from Honduras who were in this country legally.
The Mexican was turned over to federal immigration officials.
An illegal Moroccan was found Monday in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation on I-80 in Wolf Creek Township.
He was also handed over to immigration officials.
