PREP VOLLEYBALL Spartans even record; Canfield stays perfect
Springfield earned wins over Poland and Columbiana.
BOARDMAN -- April Melquist scored 14 points, with eight aces, 11 kills and nine blocks to lead Boardman High past Brookfield, 25-17, 25-13, 25-11, in a volleyball match on Wednesday.
Jen DeChellis had 13 digs and Katie Spatara had 37 assists for the Spartans (2-2).
Morgan Bonekovic led the Warriors (2-2) with 10 digs and eight kills, 10 blocks.
Mooney 25-25-25, Chaney 20-17-8
YOUNGSTOWN -- Danielle Daltorio had 38 sets, 15 assists and 14 points for Mooney. Taylor Pancoe added 20 hits, 10 kills and 10 points while Sarah Pelini had 13 hits, 11 kills and 12 points.

CANFIELD -- Jackie Nentwick scored 15 points, with five aces, two kills and three digs for the Cardinals (4-0). Kelsey Owens had 16 points, four aces and four kills. Stephanie Jarvis had eight points, six kills and three aces.

CHAMPION -- Shannon Gardiner scored 16 points, with seven aces, four kills and 11 digs for the Golden Flashes (1-1). Haley York had 11 points, six aces and Heather Pegg had 10 points, five aces and 10 kills.

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Lindsay Johnson sparked the Tigers (4-1) with 14 points, an ace, 14 kills and nine blocks. Rachel Mincher had 13 points, with an ace, five kills and two blocks. Dee Muransky sparked the Bulldogs with 16 points and eight kills. Molly Patrick added eight points.

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Doni Muransky had 13 points, five kills and two blocks for the Bulldogs (1-1), while Dee Muransky had eight points and nine kills. Ashley Conger had nine points and three kills.
Andrea Martin led Western Reserve (2-1) with nine points and five digs, while Sara Kutsko had four points and five kills, and Rachael Hernan nine points and three digs.
