McKelvey is doing what the Democrats are not
McKelvey is doing whatthe Democrats are not
EDITOR:
Youngstown Mayor George M. McKelvey, a Democrat, is supporting George W. Bush for president for a second term. The mayor went against party lines to do this. Now Bob Hagan and Harry Meshel are calling the mayor stupid. They talk about the slum area that has been there way before he was even mayor.
Why doesn't Hagan or why didn't Meshel do anything when they were in office? Hagan still hasn't done anything to help the Mahoning Valley or the city of Youngstown.
What are they going to do? Frame the mayor like Jim Traficant was framed after he crossed party lines and put the mayor behind bars too? People who think Kerry and Edwards care about this Valley should think again. They're just like Clinton, who promised to help the Valley. After he won, he never came back to the Valley and never helped East Liverpool like he said. Kerry and Edwards are for themselves. Edwards gets his money from the poor people by suing doctors and hospitals, and you wonder why health insurance is so high. Thank John Edwards.
I say three cheers for the mayor. After all, Kerry and Edwards both shunned the mayor long before the mayor decided to back Bush. Tim Ryan and the other representatives for this area aren't doing anything for this area either. I can't wait till we can vote them out too.

Drivers show ignorancewith their illegal parking
EDITOR:
I'm writing to you because of a problem. I was in the Wal-Mart in Boardman Aug. 26. I parked in a handicap space because we have a daughter in a wheelchair. There was no other space next to me except the yellow lines. I went to leave and was unable to pull my ramp down because a person was in the yellow lines. I called the Boardman police, but the person left before they got there. I don't know how many times I have done this. I'm fed up.
I told the lady she is parked in a no parking area. She replied that she was in a hurry and had no time to discuss this with me. Yet, I had to wait about 30 minutes for her to come and move her car so I could get my daughter into my van.
I have a sign on my window about a ramp coming out and the need for extra room. I have a note pad in my purse with every police department's number, so when I run into a problem I can call. I know the police have a lot more to deal with than a person parked where they are not supposed to be.
The next time this happens to me, I'm going to park my van behind their car, and I'm going to stand in front until the police arrive. If it takes my getting hurt, so be it! Enough is enough. The next call I make will be the news media while I wait for police.
So if any person parks on the yellow lines, look out for trouble. When they finally get a good fine, then they might think twice about parking in the yellow lines.

Why would mayor supportone who avoided Vietnam?
EDITOR:
The mayor of Youngstown, George McKelvey, supports President Bush for his re-election. He talks about his leadership to our nation. He fails to note a war in Iraq. Lives lost and casualties. A war that will be paid for by our grandchildren.
President Bush and his administration are still searching for weapons of mass destruction. As president and commander in chief, he could exercise his leadership by denouncing the political attacks on John Kerry's service to his country and to our nation. President Bush did not spend one day fighting in Vietnam. His choice was not to be a hero.
