NORTH LIMA -- For quite some time, area residents have asked local officials to look into putting an on-ramp to Interstate 680 at state Route 164 (South Avenue Extension).
Folks have long complained about traffic in the area, and many believe the ramp could curb some of those traffic woes, especially along East Western Reserve Road.
On Sept. 12, at the Beaver Township trustees' regular monthly meeting, Bill Barlow, systems project manger for the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, will address many of those questions and concerns.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the township's Woodworth Park Pavilion. It will follow a 6 p.m. dedication ceremony of the newly remodeled pavilion.
Barlow is interested in taking the steps necessary to start the project. He said he will start by providing area residents and officials with as much information as possible and by initiating a study to determine the feasibility of building the ramp.
"This is something that has been coming up and has been discussed among local officials and residents for many years," Barlow said. "I think this is a good time to look into pursuing it."
No cost estimates yet
Barlow said there are no official cost estimates on the project. He said he is looking to the state, in cooperation with the federal government, to pay for the work.
"Right now, we need to begin the project by discussing the possibility of it," he said. "I want to talk to residents and local officials about how to begin and proceed with this. That's what I'm hoping to do by attending this meeting of the Beaver Township trustees."
Barlow said that he will initiate the discussion but that he is willing to listen to questions, comments or concerns expressed by area residents.
