DISTRICT Harding outlasts Hoban



Dan Herron led the Raiders with 279 yards rushing and four TDs.
AKRON -- Dan Herron rushed for 279 yards and scored four touchdowns, including the final one with just under four minutes remaining, as Warren Harding defeated Akron Hoban 49-35 Friday.
The victory gives the Raiders an 8-2 record and a home game next week in the Division I, Region 1 playoffs, where they were the No. 1 seeded team.
Herron's effort took away some of the luster of the performance by Hoban's Tyrell Sutton, who had another big game with 406 yards rushing on 34 carries and four touchdowns.
Hoban (8-2) lost three fumbles in the contest, with Harding scoring off the first two.
Harding quarterback Roger Matlock hit on 10 of 12 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for one.

ALLIANCE -- West Branch running back Eric Balputnis ran 29 times for 197 yards and three touchdowns to pass the 1,000-yard mark for the season.
Bobby Swallow hit 6 of 12 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns for the Warriors (6-3-1, 4-3 Northeastern Buckeye Conference), who held a 397-234 advantage in total yards.
Mike Gorman led Marlington (1-9, 0-7) with 116 yards passing and a touchdown.
