Seniors honored: Fourteen seniors and their parents were honored before the game. Playing in their final home contest at Stambaugh Stadium were Nate Baston, Mike Bracken, Matt Briggs, Herb Jones, Norris Kennedy, Phil Larmon, Justin Martin, Ryan Martino, Matt Porter, Steve Reynolds, Mike Roberts, Matt Rycraft and Nick Terracina, while former Penguin Yancey Marcum, who gave up football this year because on injuries, but has stayed with the team, was also honored.
Martino gets in: Fifth-year senior Ryan Martino, the Penguins back-up punter, finally got into a game this season, but he did in on the Penguins kickoff team in the fourth quarter. In his four seasons with the team he has played in three other games and punted three times, his best a 38-yard against Liberty last year which was downed at the 6-yard line.
Streak continues: Senior kicker Nick Terracina continued his streak of successful extra points. The Lake Charles, La. native has not made 23 straight extra points this year and finished the 2003 season with 18 straight for a streak of 41 in a row. He has made 52 of 53 in his two season at YSU, missing only at Kent State in 2003. Terracina, who leads the team in scoring, has 50 points on the season and 118 for his career.
Up next: The Penguins will finish the season on the road playing at Western Illinois next week in a 2:05 p.m. kickoff in Macomb, Ill. YSU will finish its season at Southwest Missouri State in a 2 p.m. contest on Nov. 13.
