Best Bets on TV Tonight



Billy Crystal and John Goodman provide the voices for the two main characters in "Monsters, Inc." (8 p.m., ABC), the charming and giggle-inducing 2001 animated film from those wizards at Pixar. It tells the story of hideous creatures who are paid to scare young children into providing the screams that power the city of Monstropolis.
NBC will celebrate Mischief Night with two spooky "reality" shows from sister network Sci Fi Channel. Episodes of "Scare Tactics" (8-10 p.m.), starring Stephen Baldwin, and "Ghost Hunters" will be shown, bumping repeats of "The Apprentice" and "Law & amp; Order: SVU."
"Tempting Adam (9 p.m., Oxygen), the network's second original 90-minute movie, chronicles what happens to buddies Lauren (Joelle Carter) and Adam (Jayce Bartok) when their friendship turns into love. Oxygen's series of romance-themed movies is based on Harlequin's "Blaze" novels. The first movie, "My Sexiest Mistake," aired in March.
A show so nice, ABC is showing it twice in one week. If you missed Sunday night's episode of the critically acclaimed dark comedy "Desperate Housewives" (10 p.m.), here's another chance to see what happens when Susan (Teri Hatcher) faces a blackmail attempt from a neighbor.
