RULING

RULING
Challenges halted
The challenged: Some 35,000 voter registrations in Ohio -- including 449 in Trumbull County -- have been challenged by the state's Republican Party. They include people in college, soldiers serving in Iraq and people with post office boxes.
The Republicans say: They could be fraudulent, because mail came back undelivered.
The Democrats say: The GOP is trying to keep the poor and minorities, who move more often, from voting.
And a federal judge says: Stop the challenges, for now -- at least until other rulings are made. A hearing was scheduled for Friday.
