Lordstown, Windham roll into district final



West Branch topped Norton, while Fitch fell to Wadsworth in five games.
LISBON -- Christa Israel scored 19 points as top-seeded Lordstown High School defeated Western Reserve 25-21, 25-22, 25-22 in a Division IV district semifinal volleyball match Tuesday at David Anderson High School.
In the other match, second-seeded Windham defeated Jackson-Milton 25-20, 25-4, 25-15. Lordstown and Windham will meet for the district title at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Alycia Israel of Lordstown (21-1) had 23 assists, 88 sets and two aces and Amanda Kistler had nine kills and six blocks.
Leta Lenhart scored 16 points, with two aces, to pace Western Reserve (17-8). Sara Kutsko had 11 points, seven kills and seven blocks and Katie Harmon had 18 assists.
Windham (22-1) was paced by Ali Roach, who scored 17 points, with 25 assists, 42 sets and 14 kills. Madeline Kline had 12 points, with seven aces and Erika Cline had 10 points, 16 assists and 31 sets.
Megan Whitmer led the Bluejays (13-11) with 30 sets, seven points, two aces and five assists and Rachel Korash had four kills.
Division II
CANTON -- Dena New had 16 points, two blocks, 27 assists and seven passes for West Branch, which defeated Norton 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 in a Division II district semifinal at Canton South High School.
Evelyn Woods added seven kills, 17 blocks, eight passes and four digs and Casey Benner had three points, seven kills, 10 passes and seven digs for the Warriors (19-5).
West Branch will meet Canal Fulton Northwest for the district championship at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Division I
STOW -- Wadsworth rallied from a 2-0 deficit to upend Fitch 16-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-16-15-5 in a Division I district semifinal at Stow High School, ending the Falcons' streak of five straight district titles.
Twinsburg defeated Hudson 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 in the other semifinal.
