SOAP SCOOP Daytime TV news

No end in sight for feud: As the soaps head into the early November sweeps period, expect no letdown of the enmity that exists on "General Hospital" between Maurice Benard's character of Sonny and Colin Bernsen's recently launched part of Durant. Benard is in contract negotiations with "GH," since his current agreement is up in December, but is likely to pact a renewal without difficulty. While the actor hopes for a brief break at holiday time while his wife expects a baby, he anticipates more heavy action in the new year. Meanwhile, Bernsen's character also appears solidly in place as long as Durant's scheming against Sonny continues to evolve.
Character returns: Speaking of storylines, "Young and Restless" is getting Shemar Moore back into action as Malcolm a week earlier than originally planned. He will reappear on Wednesday. "Y & amp;R" marks its 8,000th episode Nov. 1. Among other highlights anticipated for the series during sweeps is the answer to Nikki's mystery, and a potential crisis of conscience as Brittany and Bobby prepare to wed. In that light, there will be more of Brad's intriguing story, since actor Don Diamont has renewed his contract with the show.
Recurring role: Simon Billig joins the cast of "One Life to Live" on Wednesday as Gerhardt, a dirty politician who will factor in Kevin's storyline. The role is recurring.
Tidbits: "Big Brother 5" winner Drew Daniel guests as a reporter Wednesday on "Bold and Beautiful." The Soapography of "Passions'" Andrea Evans (Rebecca) is scheduled to debut on SoapNet this Saturday.
Aging process: The character of Abby, Jack and Jennifer's daughter on "Days of our Lives," will age, so Jillian Clare, who has played the part for just over a year, has been let go. There is no word as to when Abby will return. Casting has not yet been announced.
