Police arrest man accused in barbershop attack

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Police arrested a man accused of being one of three men who burst into a North Philadelphia barbershop and fired shots, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to five others.
Carlos Baez-Marrero, 27, arrested Saturday after he went to a hospital to get treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg, is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping.
Investigators said Baez-Marrero and two other men barged into the shop on Friday with the intention of kidnapping and robbing one of the customers.
Gunfire broke out and four people were wounded, including teenage customers hit by bullets, and a barber was also injured when he smashed through a glass door to escape.
One man was found dead near the scene, but police said the circumstances of his death were unclear and his name has not been released. His body was found a few blocks from the shop with a pistol at his side. Police said he may have been one of the kidnappers.
